The Dubai Health Authority (DHA) and Dubai Sports Council recently entered a partnership which aims to promote health and active living by organising sports activities, forums and conferences.

According to a memorandum of understanding (MoU), the DHA will support the Dubai Sports Council in all its sport activities by providing specialised medical services by experienced specialists in the medical sports field and provide medical care and support to sport events and sports clubs in Dubai.

Humaid Al Qatami, chairman of the board and director general of DHA and Saeed Mohammad Harib, secretary general of the Dubai Sports Council signed the MoU on June 21 at DHA’s Headquarters in Dubai.

“This partnership aims to raise awareness among the public about the importance of leading an active life and the role of sports in improving ones standard of living and happiness,” said Al Qatami.

“DHA will provide the medical support to ensure the success of these sports events and hence promote a culture that is aware of the importance of leading an active and healthy life,” he added.

Al Harib commented: “We hope to promote healthy living with this MoU as diseases in society are increasing and leading an active lifestyle is the best way to fight back these diseases, therefore raising awareness about the importance of sports and health is vital to have a healthy and active society.”

The two bodies will also join hands in organising awareness courses for people who work in the medical sports sector and hold awareness campaigns for players and medical team at sport clubs in Dubai.

They have collaborated in many programmes in the past, especially at the Nad Al Sheba Sports Tournament (NAS) where the DHA had a platform where valuable information about how to lead a healthy lifestyle was shared with the public. –TradeArabia News Service
