Viva Bahrain, Memac Ogilvy win big at Cannes

MANAMA, July 15, 2017

Viva Bahrain, the kingdom’s innovative telecom operator and Memac Ogilvy & Mather, one of the leading multinational communication agencies, have earned three prestigious Bronze Lions at the recently concluded ‘64th Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity’ in France. 
 
This was the first Cannes Lions awarded to any telecom company in the kingdom, putting Bahrain firmly on the global map of creativity, said a statement from Viva.
 
Celebrating the win, Karim Tabbouche, the chief commercial officer for Viva Bahrain said: "We are very proud to win three awards at the Cannes Lions. At Viva, we place great emphasis on creativity in everything we do, not only in our communication but also in our innovative products and services."
 
"To be recognized for our creativity on a global stage is an affirmation of such focus,” noted Tabbouche. 
 
Adding further, he said, “We’d like to acknowledge the efforts of our partner Memac Ogilvy team who continue to help us push the creative envelope.”
 
Ghassan Boujacli, the managing director of Memac Ogilvy Bahrain pointed out that winning a Cannes Lions was the ultimate creative achievement for agencies. 
 
"We are so proud of being able to deliver award winning work for VIVA. Such things are only possible when a Client and Agency share the same vision and goal of focusing on creative excellence, he noted.
 
Both Viva and Memac Ogilvy said that winning at Cannes was just the start for them. 
 
Through their committed focus on exploring new ideas and concepts, they continue to be leaders in communications, creativity and innovations, said the company statement.
 
Recognised globally as the embodiment of creative excellence in communications, the festival spanning eight days of keynotes, workshops and creative showcasing, features its most coveted and well-respected industry accolades, the Cannes Lions, touted as the ‘Oscars’ of advertising and creative communications industry.
 
Every year, thousands of professionals from nearly 100 countries working in creative communications, entertainment, design and tech come together to at the annual event to celebrate the power of creativity as a force for business, for change and for good. 
 
It is a truly global, world class event with speakers who are true luminaries in their field. This year’s event had talks given by Dame Helen Mirren, Sir Ian McKellen, Ron Howard, Mario Testino and Ron Howard to name a few. 
 
Previously, in 2014, Viva Bahrain and Memac Ogilvy & Mather have earned accolades at another noteworthy industry event, the Effie Mena Awards, where they were commemorated with a silver award for their ‘Termination’ campaign, in “Telecommunications Mobiles & Internet” category.-TradeArabia News Service
