RIYADH, June 13, 2017

Red Hat Academy is an open source, web-deployed and web-managed education programme that is designed to provide turnkey curriculum materials to academic institutions to start and sustain an open source and Linux curriculum program.

The new programme supports recent college graduates who need more practical training in order to compete in today’s job market, said a statement from the university.

Prince Faisal bin Bandar bin Abdulaziz, governor of Riyadh, had recently laid the cornerstone for the new King Salman Center for Education for Employment building at the university.

This centre is seen as an important national development project that contributes to building a generation capable of achieving the objectives of economic development in Saudi Arabia.

Red Hat Academy turns academic institutions into centres for enterprise-ready talent by outfitting them with Red Hat training, it said.

Ibrahim Al Ghemlas, director of the community services and continuing education centre at Prince Sultan University, said: “Red Hat will be collaborating with us to offer multiple certification programmes in system administration and openstack administration.”

“Red Hat is an exciting addition to our King Salman Education for Employment academies and we look forward to a long and beneficial collaboration with the company,” he said.

Ken Goetz, vice president, global training and certification, Red Hat, said: “To help students learn about our technologies and solutions and establish in-demand open source skills, we work closely with a variety of educational institutions.”

“We look forward to continued collaboration with Prince Sultan University as an important member of our company’s training and certification ecosystem,” he added. – TradeArabia News Service
