UAE re-elected as chair of global IoT study group

UAE has been re-elected to chair the Study Group 20 of the Internet of Things (IoT) and Smart Cities at the recent World Telecommunication Standardization Assembly (WTSA) in Tunisia.
The UAE has been also elected to vice chair the Study Group 2 on the Numbering Standard.
The UAE representative in the ITU, Nasser Al Marzouqi, has been elected to chair the Study Group of IoT and Smart Cities, while Saif Bin Ghelaita, director Technology Development Affairs in TRA, has been elected the vice-chairman of the Study Group of Numbering Standard.
Hamad Obaid Al Mansoori, director general of the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority, said: ‘The UAE enjoys the confidence of the ITU member states, due to the tireless efforts of the UAE represented by TRA, in all the conferences and activities of the organization. We look forward to continue the work according to a comprehensive and systematic plan to develop and empower the relations with the ITU, through constant participation in providing suggestions and opinions that enrich the work of the organization, support its efforts and enhance its leading role of the global ICT sector.”
“We will continue the process of preparing and developing young national competencies to reach leading positions in ICT related international organizations.
