​Ras Al Khaimah, Cisco in deal to set up datacentre

RAS AL KHAIMAH, December 22, 2015

Ras Al Khaimah and Cisco Systems have signed a deal which establishes a working relationship in the areas of education, commerce, healthcare and electronic, government.
 
The memoradum of understanding is a reflection of the emirate's commitment to continuous enhancement of its services to all Ras Al Khaimah residents, said a statement.
 
The signing was attended by Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah, and John Chambers, executive chairman of Cisco Systems.
 
Rabih Dabboussi, managing director and general manager of Cisco UAE, said: “Cisco is honoured to be chosen by the Emirate of Ras Al Khaimah to partner with the RAK government on its digital strategy in key sectors through innovative technologies that will enhance citizen services and quality of life."
 
The Ras Al Khaimah Government has confirmed that the RAK Datacentre will serve as the anchor project upon which the relationship will be further developed, said the statement.
 
The overall objective is to provide better services to both the government and private sectors in the emirate, it said. 
 
The datacentre is anticipated to be the first Uptime Institute Tier III certified facility in the Northern Emirates when it becomes operational in 2016, it added. - TradeArabia News Service
