UAE’s TRA, Du meet over operator services

The UAE’s General Authority for Regulating the Telecommunications Sector (TRA) recently discussed the quality of services provided by licensed operators with Dubai-based telco Du at the former’s headquarters in Abu Dhabi.
Hamad Obaid Al Mansoori, director general of the TRA and Osman Sultan, CEO of the Emirates Integrated Telecommunication Company (Du), also discussed several topics with regards to the mechanisms and strategies governing the functions of the UAE telecommunications sector.
Subjects mentioned in the meeting agenda include; increasing customer satisfaction rates and maintaining the positive spirit of competition among licensed service providers in the UAE.
The topic of enhancing network performances and improving the quality of coverage in different areas throughout the country received a great deal of debate, where they addressed the need to rely on the best techniques reached in this field.
The meeting was also attended by Majed Al Mesmar, TRA deputy director general for the Telecommunications Sector, Farid Faraidooni, corporate operations officer of Du and Ananda Bose, chief corporate affairs officer of Du.
Aspects in relation to the external representation and participation in international forums and conferences came under focus, as well as its importance to the TRA, and the effective role played by the operators in providing services and working together with customers’ complaints.
It was concluded that a joint team is to be formed by members from the TRA and the operators, to find appropriate solutions to customers’ complaints, and to follow-up on the implementation of existing and future projects, and the size of work accomplished for each.
It was also agreed upon to hold regular meetings to discuss matters related to the sector and explore methods to deal with all the issues of concern to public users.
“As the regulating body for the UAE’s telecommunications sector, it is our responsibility to maintain the quality of services provided to customers in the field of mobile communications and internet networks. This meeting is held within the framework of having a clear strategy based on strengthening the foundations of continuing to build and be transparent with all licensed service providers in the UAE,” said Al Mansoori.
“Recently, we launched a TRA mobile application that includes many services provided for all our customers, from companies to individuals.
“The application provides an opportunity to directly communicate with various TRA departments, in order to save time and effort required in the completion of TRA transactions and reporting difficulties or obstacles that may arise and hinder the daily use of mobile phone networks in the nation,” he added. – TradeArabia News Service
