Paradigm 3D provides green ‘Smart City Censor’
DUBAI, November 7, 2014
Paradigm 3D, a digital factory dedicated to supplying 3D printing services for low-volume and customised production, has provided a ‘green’ solution to the UAE-based Recycle Beacon’s needs for a working prototype of the ‘Smart City Sensor.’
Valerie Schafer, co-founder of Recycle Beacon, approached the bespoke team at Paradigm with initial designs and sketches for an innovative sensor device that could revolutionise community recycling efforts, said a statement.
The sensor forms an integral system of monitoring and behaviour analysis with a reward system for recyclers, incorporating a dynamic, online community of gamification, quizzes, videos and short articles. Paradigm 3D managed to deliver the functional prototype sensor in just two days from initial design consultation, it said.
Recycle Beacon wanted to keep its product development in line with their environmentally friendly outlook, and at the same time quickly develop the working model for product testing and proof of concept verification.
Paradigm 3D created a design that was optimised for 3D printing, incorporating useful assembly features and instructions into the actual model, said the statement.
The firm has the largest regional capacity for 3D printing with Stratasys Performance 3D printers and used the Fortus 400 printer to build the parts for delivery the following day. The Paradigm facility can 3D print 24/7, so customers can have a fast turnaround of parts, it said.
Jimmy Nicolaides, Paradigm 3D general manager, said: “With 3D printing only the materials needed are used – with Stratasys Performance 3D printers there is no toxic waste or emissions and ABS is recyclable material.” - TradeArabia News Service
