Bocar BA... focus on monetising digital assets

Samena to host CMO Summit in Dubai on Oct 11

DUBAI, October 6, 2014

The South Asia–Middle East–North Africa region’s Samena Telecommunications Council announced that it will be organising the third edition of its annual Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) Summit on October 11.

The event will be held at The Palace Downtown.

The summit will bring together senior marketing executives exclusively from Samena Council’s chartered members – including leading telecommunications groups such as Etisalat, STC, Batelco, Zain, Orange, Turk Telecom, Ooredoo and VIVA – to share insights on new innovations and opportunities in an increasingly digital world.

This year’s summit will focus on the theme, “Data Dynamics: Innovative Monetization Opportunities”, and will explore how telecom operators can successfully monetize their digital assets and create long-term value by making their business more data-driven.

The event will also shed light on the need for CMOs to become more digitally-savvy and to adapt their strategies to stay relevant in a changing marketplace.

“In today’s competitive and constantly evolving telecommunications landscape, marketers need to uplift the environment in which the industry operates in order to make key decisions that influence the direction of their organizations,” said Bocar BA, chief executive officer, Samena Council.

“One of the key challenges for telecommunications executives is to extract value out of evolving markets. With an agenda geared towards revenue stream expansion and value optimization, the CMO Summit aims to provide a platform for telecom decision-makers to collaborate to more accurately forecast market developments and determine effective ways to turn data into revenue.”

Andrew Hanna, CCO of VIVA Bahrain and chairman of the CMO Committee Working Group (CMOC), said: “Trends such as Big Data today offer telecom companies a goldmine of untapped insights and opportunities. However, with the volume of data growing exponentially, operators find themselves faced with the enormous challenge of breaking down and analyzing the vast quantities of data generated by their customers.”

“The CMO Summit will discuss ways in which telecom groups can derive optimum value from their data and differentiate themselves in the market by adapting their business model to keep pace with the changing data environment,” he added. – TradeArabia News Service
