Amman, November 22, 2011

Umniah, a leading telecom company in Jordan, has signed an agreement with Mobile Health Management Company (mHealth) of Saudi Arabia to provide Umniah subscribers with accurate, innovative and trusted health information via their mobile handsets.

Under the agreement, Umniah customers will be able to receive health information by subscribing to either the informative or the interactive service by sending their questions via SMS, a statement from the company said.

The partnership is the company’s first step towards providing its customers with useful health services as it aims to expand its range of services under this category in the near future.

By virtue of the agreement, Umniah will present its customers with comprehensive health information in collaboration with mHC’s specialised team of doctors, medical consultants and health experts.

This service will comprise topics such as diabetes and blood pressure, in addition to other topics that are of interest to its subscribers of all ages, the statement said.

“Mobile technologies play a vital role in supporting different sectors through value-added services that have today become widely popular thanks to their accessibility and affordability, which is what Umniah continuously strives to achieve. We are proud of our partnership with mHC which aims to positively impact our subscribers’ lifestyles through delivering valuable information that enables them to change unhealthy behavior, prevent diseases and encourage better patient self-management,” said Ihab Hinnawi, CEO of Umniah.

Dr Fahd Al-Oraifi, deputy chairman and managing partner of mHC, said: “We are delighted at the genuine interest Umniah has shown in providing its customers in Jordan with accurate health information, and in allowing them to lead healthier lifestyles and create better futures for themselves. We value our partnership with Umniah as it aims to support us in fulfilling our mission of providing health education around the world in both developed and developing countries, in an effort to better service communities in cities, villages and remote areas alike.” – TradeArabia News Service
