Etisalat launches 'Mobile Baby' service

Etisalat is launching the innovative Mobile Baby service, which will add a new dimension to mobile healthcare delivery, in collaboration with Great Connection.

The service will enable remote medical diagnostics for pre-natal healthcare. Mobile Baby will enable medical practitioners to send ultrasound images, video clips, and 3D scans to referring physicians for remote medical diagnostics, a statement from the company said.

The application works directly from ultrasound machines, with images delivered to any mobile phone via SMS, MMS and email. Besides being used for additional medical advice, the service will also enable expecting parents to share their pregnancy scan experience and ultrasound images of their baby with family and friends around the world at the click of a button.

Commenting on the service, Abdulla Ebrahim Al Ahmed, senior vice president, business solutions at Etisalat, said: “Etisalat is a pioneer in the development of enabling technologies we’re proud to have taken a leadership position in the area of m-Health. As mobile technology continues to penetrate deeper, services and applications such Mobile Baby are bound to proliferate, given the ubiquity of mobile phones and ease of technology deployment.” 

“The Mobile Baby service, will enhance pre-natal healthcare through immediate availability and low-cost transmission of high-quality images and video clips from the womb, which is not only an innovative use of technology, but also relevant for our large base of expatriate customers, who might prefer to give birth to their babies in their home countries. Etisalat is also forging key relationships with companies in the medical device, pharmaceutical and health service industries to introduce innovative and relevant mobile healthcare solutions in the UAE,” he said.
