STC to set up telecom for Olaya

Riyadh, July 18, 2011

Saudi Telecom Company (STC), Saudi Arabia’s leading telecom service provider, has signed an agreement with Olaya Real Estate to implement telecommunications infrastructure for Olaya’s projects across the kingdom.

The services agreement aims to prepare the infrastructure to deliver fiber optics service and support, while staying abreast with the Smart Neighbourhood strategy adopted by STC through its current projects with new innovative ideas based on both speed and quality.

The agreement was signed by Bandar Bin Mohammed Al-Qafari, vice president of the network sector, STC and Khalid Bin Fahad Bin Saedan vice president of Olaya Real Estate.

Bin Saedan emphasized the importance of such agreements with STC which support the creation of model neighbourhoods without the need for excavation.

This agreement reflects a partnership between STC and the real estate developers to deliver telecommunications services to these plots as quick as possible and to implement the vision of smart buildings.

STC continued deploying fixed networks and extending fiber optics in commercial streets and roads in major cities registering a high level of growth and development of broadband services.

This is in addition to what has been implemented over the past few years where more than six thousand buildings have been connected with fiber technology across the kingdom.

The total length of fiber optic cables laid in commercial streets as part of this year 2011 project reached more than one million meters in various cities across Saudi Arabia. – TradeArabia News Service
