Qtel to gift 50,000th mobile broadband user

Doha, April 29, 2010

Qatar Telecom (Qtel), the elading telecom services provider in Qatar, has planned a special surprise for the customer registering as the 50,000th mobile broadband user in Qatar.

The company is likely to hit the magic number as early as this weekend, it said in a statement.

This lucky customer will get free unlimited mobile broadband service for one year, worth QR4900 ($1345), plus a free My-Fi personal 3G Mobile hotspot and a new LG Netbook, for a combined prize value of QR6938.

Mobile broadband was introduced in Qatar in 2008, and the popularity has surged in recent months, particularly since the launch of prepaid mobile broadband in December 2009.

Qtel's mobile broadband service provides customers with Internet connectivity from any 3G-enabled device. Customers can expect to receive speeds ranging from 1 Mega bits per second (Mbps) to 3 Mbps, depending on their proximity to a Qtel 3G tower. – TradeArabia News Service
