Qtel logs record international calls in Dec-Jan

Doha, January 6, 2010

Qatar Telecommunications (Qtel), a leading provider of telecom services in Qatar, has recorded an all-time high in the number of international call minutes made from Qatar during December 2009 and January 2010.

Qtel launched a range of new international call offers in December 2009, including a flat-rate for all international calls of QR0.55 ($0.15) for Hala and Shahry, Qtel’s international packs, which offers customers a special low price.

The call offer has been supported by special offers on Qtel’s new range of popular international packs, which offer a set number of minutes at specially-reduced rates, making it one of the most cost-effective ways to make international calls.

The special offer provided additional bonus minutes in every pack, supporting an effective call rate as low as QR0.35 per minute for the QR500 international pack.

As a result, tens of millions of international call minutes have been logged in December and the first week of January, a statement said.

Qtel offers four options for international minutes packs:  a QR 50 international pack; the QR100 international pack; the QR 200 international pack; and the QR 500 international pack.

For a limited period, Qtel is adding bonus minutes automatically for all new and existing customers, creating a massive allocation of international minutes in every pack.

Tens of thousands of people in Qatar have subscribed to the international packs since their launch in November 2009, the statement added.

To ensure the widest choice in the market, customers using Dawli Mena and Dawli Asia can call a range of popular destinations for QR 0.45 per minute – the best rate in Qatar for such a wide range of destinations. – TradeArabia News Service
