Synchronica wins ME order for email product
Dubai, September 22, 2009
Synchronica, an email and data synchronisation provider, has won an order worth $162,000 from a mobile operator in the Middle East, for an initial 100,000 user licence of its award winning mobile email product Mobile Gateway.
This contract is Synchronica's first win with a mobile operator in the Middle East and the ninth deal the company has announced in 2009. It follows on from other operator purchase orders received this year from Eastern Europe, Africa and Latin America.
The operator, a leading telecommunications business with more than six million subscribers, will use Synchronica's Mobile Gateway technology to offer a push mail service to its subscribers including the new email-to-SMS and email-to-MMS functionality of Mobile Gateway version 4.
Synchronica's technology requires no additional software client to be downloaded to the handset and enables push email for the broadest range of handsets, from high-end smartphones to low-cost entry level devices. The installation is expected to be completed in early October, followed by a commercial launch of the service. Synchronica is already in discussions with the operator to extend the initial order with further licenses.
According to industry specialists GSM Arab World, mobile subscription rates in the Middle East are expected to grow by 15 per cent in 2009 despite the global economic slowdown.
'Our products are particularly attractive in fast growing markets like the Middle East as they work across the entire range of handsets, allowing operators to successfully introduce value added data services to the mass-market,' said Carsten Brinkschulte, CEO of Synchronica.-TradeArabia News Service
