MUSCAT, November 26, 2018

Oman-based National Detergent Company (NDC), a leading fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) company, has appointed William Hunt as its new chief executive officer.

An MBA from the prestigious University of Chicago Booth School of Management and Bachelor of Science with Honors in Chemical Engineering from Washington University, Hunt was the chief executive officer of Soaps and Chemicals Industrial and Trading in Sharjah (UAE) prior to joining NDC, said a statement from the company.

Hunt has been a key member of several globally renowned companies’ executive and leadership teams for the past 20 years. He has held the position of president of Access Business Group, in the US; executive director of Brambles Australasia, in Australia; and president of Boral Bricks, in Australia; among several other leadership and high-performance roles in his career, it said.

Having experience in the plastics, chemicals, and fast moving consumer goods industries, Hunt has seen great success in dealing with global retailing giants such as Walmart, Menards, Carrefour, Tesco, and Woolworths, it added.

Commenting on his appointment, Hunt said: “I am both honoured as well as excited to have been selected to lead NDC. The company has a great culture, modern manufacturing facilities and is one of the Middle East’s oldest and most successful companies.”

“Building further on its success is a challenge I accept with confidence, determination and ambition. I will continue to operate with a strong consumer focus,” he added.

‘Truly Arabian, Truly World class’, the NDC is one of the sultanate’s leading FMCG companies, and manufactures and distributes a wide range of successful brands covering various segments - detergents powders, liquid detergents, soaps, shampoos, allied laundry aids and other household cleaning products.

Established by Abdul Hussain Bin Bhacker Al Lawati, founder and previous chairman, NDC began manufacturing and marketing of soaps and detergents in 1981. The other major promoters in the company are the Omzest Group (Omar Zawawi Establishment) and Al Anwar Holdings.

It is noteworthy that NDC is the first ISO certified soap and detergent company in the region. The flagship brand Bahar is a market leader in Oman and has strong presence in the Middle East and North Africa (Mena) region.

The company has also won numerous laurels for leadership in developing Omani products that are at par with some of the best brands in the world.

NDC’s latest offering, Bahar Advanced-Matic liquid laundry Gel is getting fabulous response from the consumers.

Aimed at providing a superior laundry experience for consumers, the new liquid detergent promises to make their laundry chore easier through the year and during all seasons. With outstanding cleaning capabilities, Bahar Advanced-Matic Gel provides concentrated laundering power along with long lasting perfume.

Introduced to meet the growing consumer demand for liquid detergent, Bahar Advanced-Matic Gel is loaded with multi-enzymes to clean effectively while keeping the garment soft and fluffy even after repeated washes, it stated. – TradeArabia News Service
