ABCC hosts ‘Arab Halal Day’ at France show
PARIS, October 22, 2018
The Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce (ABCC) is organising an ‘Arab Halal Day’ at the ongoing Salon International de l’Agroalimentaire (SIAL Paris), Europe's leading food industry show, being held in France.
SIAL Paris, which kicked off yesterday (October 21), will run until October 25, in Paris.
The Arab Halal Day, which is being hosted in partnership with the Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency (Apex-Brasil), will happen on October 23, said a statement.
Arab Halal Day is aimed towards promoting halal meats and attracting the interest of Arab importers, it said.
According to recent industry reports, the Arab region consumed over $3.5 billion halal beef and poultry from Brazil in 2017. With this figure in mind, holding 'Arab Halal Day' proves to be both timely and strategic as it is expected to help give Brazilian businesses a much-needed push in connecting with potential Arab importers who will be present at the Paris show.
ABCC will be bringing in 22 industry players from Brazil, including leading companies like JBS, Mafripar, Marfrig, Minerva Foods and Xinguara.
The chamber has revealed that they will be serving Brazilian halal beef barbecue available from the Brazilian Beef Exporters Association (ABIEC) pavilion and halal chicken shawarma from the Brazilian Animal Protein Association (ABPA) pavilion.
Aside from the food to be served, the ABCC will also feature key videos and hand out marketing collaterals that looks towards promoting Brazilian halal meats in the Islamic markets.
Rubens Hannun, president, ABCC, said: “We are excited to announce that we will be hosting the third Arab Halal Day at this year’s edition of SIAL Paris. During the show, we will be serving free halal meats for tasting--excellently flavoured halal beef barbecue and halal chicken shawarma--as part of our move to help connect Brazilian halal meat businesses with potential partners from the Arab region.”
“At the same time, we also want to throw the spotlight on halal products, even across the non-Arab world as these products are continuously trending and is considered as a fast growing market,” he added.
Brazil is a leading manufacturer and exporter of halal beef and poultry, with sales to Arab League countries coming out to $3.5 billion in 2017 – $2.6 billion of which came from poultry. The top buyers were Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Egypt and Algeria.
The ABCC is encouraging interested businesses and media to come visit their stand at the show to find out more about the participating businesses and the halal meat products on showcase, it stated. – TradeArabia News Service
