Alba Line 6 Smelter records 20m man-hours without LTI

Bahrain-based Aluminium Bahrain (Alba), soon to be the world’s largest site aluminium smelter, announced that its Line 6 Smelter Project recorded 20 million man-hours without Lost Time Injury (LTI) in the first week of September.
Alba Line 6 Smelter Project held a celebratory ceremony to mark this occasion with the attendance of the Line 6 Alba as well as contractor teams, said a statement from the company.
This milestone was achieved by employees and contractors partnering on the Line 6 Smelter Project with safety as a core common value, it said.
Alba’s chief executive officer Tim Murray said: “I commend the Line 6 Smelter Project teams on achieving this safety milestone.”
“This accomplishment demonstrates our teams’ dedication to safety as well as our focused-aim to maintain an injury-free workplace,” he said.
“Through our commitment and dedication to safe best practices, we are confident to deliver the first hot metal on January 1, 2019,” he added.
As Alba is progressing with its preparedness for Line 6 Safe Start-up, Alba’s CEO has been touring the different plant areas to emphasise on safe work practices and good housekeeping in line with the recent mini-campaign ‘Safety Blitz’, it stated. – TradeArabia News Service
