McMenon Engineering acquires major ABB facility
LONDON, February 6, 2018
Aberdeen-based McMenon Engineering Services has acquired a major product manufacturing facility from power and automation technology giant ABB at Workington in England, UK.
A fully-owned subsidiary of McMenon Associates, the company said the Cumbrian facility has a long tradition of designing and manufacturing industry-leading highly-specialised range of differential pressure (DP) flow and temperature measurement products.
Anand Puthran, CEO and founder at McMenon Engineering Services, said: "Acquiring the Workington facility from ABB, a leading power and automation technology group, is a major milestone for McMenon Engineering Services."
"Furthermore, being granted ‘preferred supplier’ status by ABB instantly places us amongst the top suppliers in the flow and temperature measurement instrumentation market," he stated.
The acquisition included investment from Shiby Bernard and Shiv Nair, directors of the McMenon Board, and was facilitated by Simon Cowie, managing director at Aberdeen-based Accountancy firm, Infinity Partnership.
McMenon Engineering Services said the strategy is to position the Workington facility as the premier supplier of choice for flow, temperature and measurement instrumentation products, and associated services.
Fundamental to the strategy will be the expansion of the facility’s customer base through reinforcement of its proven high-end capabilities.
“The acquisition of the facility by McMenon will bolster the Workington facility’s existing capabilities, workforce skillset and, fundamentally, support and develop the facility as it diversifies into other sectors, including chemical processing, aerospace, defence, nuclear, food and beverage," remarked Puthran.
"We believe the growth for our newly-acquired facility is huge," he added.-TradeArabia News Service
