DMCA honours strategic partners
DUBAI, January 16, 2018
The Dubai Maritime City Authority (DMCA) recently held a ceremony to recognise the contributions of its strategic partners from both the public and private sectors in responding effectively to emergencies.
DMCA is the government authority charged with regulating, coordinating and supervising all aspects of the maritime sector in Dubai, UAE.
The authority praised its joint efforts with its partners which falls in line with global standards for ensuring maritime safety within Dubai’s territorial waters, said a statement.
Amer Ali, executive director of the DMCA, commended the outstanding support of government entities and private companies in effectively acting on emergencies and the technical capabilities required to deal with such incidents.
He said: “The authority is committed to enhancing emergency preparedness in line with international best practices in compliance with federal and local legislation in order to develop a secure, sustainable and diverse maritime community which enhances the competitiveness, inclusiveness and attractiveness of Dubai.”
“We deeply appreciate, the outstanding role played by our public and private sector partners and their coordination and fruitful cooperation in uplifting Dubai’s maritime industry,” he added.
Attendees agreed on the importance of coordination, integration and cooperation in further enhancing Dubai's competitive capabilities in addressing maritime emergencies and crises, based on advanced and innovative technologies and under the supervision of qualified human capital to ensure the highest standards of maritime safety, it said.
Captain Khamis Weld Ghumail, director of maritime traffic management, DMCA, said: “We would like to thank our strategic partners for their continued commitment to support our relentless efforts to improve maritime safety standards as a key element in enhancing the competitiveness of the local maritime sector.”
“Their assistance is vital to the promotion of maritime safety integration, safe navigation and operational efficiency in local coasts – all of which reinforce Dubai's leadership as a top destination for regional and international maritime investments,” he added.
The ceremony was attended by various representatives of DMCA’s strategic partners, including the Dubai Police, the Dubai Municipality, the Coast Guard, the Federal Transport Authority - Land and Maritime (FTA), Jebel Ali Port, Port Rashid, (GAC), Admiral Cargo Group, LOC Group, and other private sector companies involved in Dubai’s maritime sector, it stated. – TradeArabia News Service
