Equate continues ‘Plastic Awareness Campaign’ in Kuwait
KUWAIT, January 11, 2018
Kuwait-based Equate Petrochemical Company, a global producer of petrochemicals, said it will continue its ‘Plastic Awareness Campaign’ by educating the youth at various schools in Kuwait.
Equate aims to raise awareness about the importance of plastic and its lifecycle in our everyday lives through its endeavours, said a statement.
The campaign encompasses the company’s objectives to achieve sustainable development in every aspect of its business be it operationally, socially and environmentally, it said.
By organising workshops in 10 public schools as part of the second phase of its 2017 campaign, Equate has illustrated the lifecycle of plastics, their diverse usage in many industries and recycling process.
The workshops included interactive games and competitions held in collaboration with Blank Hunts, a company that provides pleasure and smart knowledge in the form of services and products for all its clients, ranging from individuals to institutions, it added.
The campaign will hold its third phase in 2018 by hosting public events in different venues in Kuwait including malls to interact with many and various individuals and form a solid awareness of plastics in Kuwait’s communities, said a statement.
Abeer Al Omar, senior executive of corporate communications and government affairs, Equate, said: “Our company’s initiatives are focused on achieving sustainability, ultimately supporting the company’s 2025 Sustainability Strategy that supports the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals and Kuwait’s 2035 Vision.”
“The sustainability of our environment is one of the most important elements to the growth and progress of communities and economies, in addition to our continued investments in finding effective solutions to better manage resources and reduce waste,” he said.
Asrar Mohammad, sustainability committee member, Equate, added: “In modern life, plastics are part of our everyday lives. Their multiple uses and applications highlight the need for properly using and recycling plastic products to ensure overall sustainability.”
“Ensuring that the students understand the petrochemical industry and the various products such as plastics derived from this industry are critical to creating overall awareness,” she concluded. – TradeArabia News Service
