Most UAE residents 'use professional car cleaning service'

UAE, November 6, 2017

The Middle East remains one of the fastest growing services market for automobiles, globally with 60 per cent more cars expected to ply within the region by 2020.

In a recent survey conducted by VIS, the organisers of Middle East Cleaning Technology Week (MECTW), it was revealed that most of the households in UAE own at least one car.

The residents of UAE get their vehicles professionally cleaned at an average of four times a month. Between the commute to work, sports practices, parenting classes, one probably spends hours in a car.

The dirty shoes are always in the car, unlike home, which makes the car even filthier. The cost of professionally cleaning a vehicle ranges from Dh30 ($8.17) to Dh100 ($27.22), which means that the residents are spending between Dh100 and Dh300 ($81.6) on their cars, every month just for cleaning and washing, according to the survey.

The survey also showed that more than 80 per cent of the residents prefer to get their cars professionally washed at car centres or petrol pumps. While the maximum percentage of residents visit professional cleaning centres, others usually take help from security guards of the building, or by other members of utility staff employed by the building owner.

What is even interesting to note is that despite professional cleaning services available everywhere in the UAE, more than 50 per cent of the vehicle owners chose mobile car wash services over these professional cleaning centres in UAE. The reason behind this choice was the lack of time, and busy schedule of the residents, it said.

Selwyn Abraham, equipment division manager, Trade X Middle East, said: “Cars are a big part of our lives here in the region, and especially in the UAE. We are obsessed with keeping them clean, inside and out.”

“The survey clearly highlights on the fact that car cleaning services in the UAE are profitable business. MECTW is keen to highlight the movers and shakers of the automatic cleaning, washing and detailing industry, and this exhibition provides a robust platform for any company looking to showcase itself,” he said.

“We are extremely happy to participate in the Gulf Car Wash Car Care Expo 2017 and with our Innovative Products from Otto Christ Germany, one of the leading manufacture with innovative technology in automatic carwash. Otto Christ possesses the most highly efficient product programme, as well as, the most advanced technology in the vehicle wash market,” he added.

Jayaraman Nair, chairman of VIS Exhibitions and Conferences, organiser of MECTW, said: “The car cleaning, washing and detailing industry is seeing rapid growth, and surveys like these is absolutely needed to get an insight into customer trends.”

“Today there is a plethora of products and solutions available, and this survey along with the exposure that MECTW is providing is very much needed. Car culture continues to grow in the region and our industry is helping drive this growth,” he added.

MECTW is region’s largest event that brings together cleaning service providers, equipment, and chemicals suppliers to discuss trends and showcase green cleaning products and innovations. The event features three platforms such as Gulf Laundrex and Linen Care Expo powered by ExpoDetergo, Gulf Car Wash and Car Care Expo as well as the Clean Middle East Pulire.

The event will be held at the Dubai World Trade Centre from November 7 to 9, it added. – TradeArabia News Service
