DMCC, InternsME partner for internships

DUBAI, August 16, 2017

Dubai Multi Commodities Centre (DMCC), the authority on trade, enterprise and commodities in Dubai and a leading free zone, has signed a partnership agreement with InternsME, the UAE’s largest internship portal job site for students and graduates.

The collaboration marks another important milestone in DMCC’s commitment to foster a strong community of boundless ambition in its free zone and beyond, to ultimately deliver a sustainable future of trade for the next generation of entrepreneurs and business leaders in Dubai, said a statement.

InternsME will help connect DMCC member companies with highly qualified Emirati and expat graduates who are looking to kick-start their careers in the region, it said.

Krysta Fox, executive director, DMCC Free Zone, said: “We are passionate about providing the infrastructure, products and services our member companies need to excel.”

“This collaboration with InternsME is exciting because it connects young talent with successful businesses in an efficient manner. We look forward to welcoming the next generation of business leaders and entrepreneurs to our free zone,” Fox added.

Out of 2,319 verified participants, InternsME’s UAE Student and Graduate Survey 2016 shows that 52 per cent of students feel their universities have not put enough emphasis on factors that influence their chances of employment.

Jean-Michel Gauthier, CEO, InternsME, said: “We are excited to collaborate with DMCC and provide their member companies with access to a large group of young, ambitious graduates looking to advance their careers.”

“We are confident that this programme will equip the future generation with the required soft skills, such as time management, negotiation practices and teamwork exercises, which will help them advance in a corporate environment,” he added.

InternsME has worked with various companies across the country to help build career opportunities for young, local talent.

The online platform offers career workshops in universities and guides fresh graduates on best-practice job applications and the creation of video resumes. Over the past four years, InternsME has successfully provided 1,500 students and graduates with job opportunities.

The DMCC and InternsME are available to all DMCC member companies with three tailored and affordable packages ranging from basic to pro+, allowing them to fulfill their recruiting needs.

This new added-value service will also help small and medium enterprises (SMEs) hire interns for short-term projects through flexible monthly payment models, it stated. – TradeArabia News Service
