Alba plays host to Bahrain parliamentary team

Aluminium Bahrain (Alba), a leading international aluminium smelter, recently played host to a three-member parliamentary team which visited the company's plant to understand its operations and the other safety and security measures in the premises.
The members from the Council of Representatives included Mohsin Al Bakri, Mohammed Ma'arifi and Osama Al Khaja, said a statement from Alba.
The MPs visit was aimed at meeting Alba’s top officials and seeking areas of mutual interest between the company and the kingdom’s parliament in terms of advancing training and development to another level as well as contributing to the economy of Bahrain, it said.
Ali Al Baqali, the chief financial officer at Alba along with Abdulla Habib, the director of reduction lines and services; Shawqi Al Hashmi, the director of line 6 (project and engineering); Hassan Noor, the director (carbon and services) and Waleed Tamimi, the acting director of administration were present at the meeting.
After the meeting, Al Baqali said: "Our company is committed to Bahrain’s Vision 2030 and we continuously seek to partner with mutually interested parties to fulfil this vision in the best possible way."
“It was a pleasure to receive MPs Mohsin, Mohammed and Osama, and discuss potential opportunities that will have a positive impact on the economy as well as the society,” he added.
The visit provided the MPs a platform to get further insights on Alba operations, safety and environment and the company’s endeavours towards training and developing Bahrainis, said a statement from Alba.
They were also given an update about the various factors underpinning the aluminium industry such as London Metal Exchange (LME) prices, raw materials, market conditions, etc, it said.
President of National Bloc MP Al Bakri, said: “Alba is one of the key pillars of Bahrain’s economy and contributes in many ways towards the society.”
“We were pleased to visit Alba and learn more about the company’s operations as well as seek ways of collaboration in order to develop a brighter future for all,” he added. – TradeArabia News Service
