Alba holds breast cancer awareness activities

MANAMA, October 24, 2016

Aluminium Bahrain (Alba), a leading international aluminium smelter, has demonstrated its commitment to the welfare of its employees by supporting the International Breast Cancer Month with activities that were held during this month.

Alba held a ‘Think Pink’ walkathon on October 17 around the Oasis area within the smelter where employees demonstrated their support towards breast cancer awareness, said a statement from the company.

A health awareness session was conducted Dr Farah Al Nuaimy, consultant, obstetrics and gynaecology and infertility, King Abdullah Medical City, for Alba women employees on October 20, at the Oasis Hall where subjects such as early detection, stages of breast cancer, treatment options and overall health for women were discussed, it said.

Alba’s chief financial officer Ali Al Baqali said: “Breast cancer is a challenging and fatal disease. The more you know about breast cancer, the less is the risk of developing it.

“Our company, as a leading corporate citizen, actively conducts awareness activities for its employees every year to support the International Breast Cancer Month,” he added.

Breast cancer awareness month is an international health campaign observed every October to increase awareness of the disease, advocate for breast cancer screenings and raise funds for its diagnosis, prevention and cure. – TradeArabia News Service
