Saudi Arabia’s Ma’aden Aluminium has selected the planning and optimisation software platform of Netherlands-based Quintiq, a Dassault Systèmes company, to facilitate its business planning transformation programme.

The company, which is part of the Ma’aden Group, operates one of the largest and most efficient vertically-integrated aluminium production complexes in the world.

Ma’aden Aluminium aims to switch from volume-driven to demand-driven production planning in order to achieve its targets, said a statement from Quintiq, a global leader in supply chain planning and optimisation.

Quintiq’s planning software platform will help Ma’aden Aluminium to integrate internal planning processes, improve information flow and support optimal decision-making, it said.

Ma’aden Aluminium chose Quintiq for its scalability and optimisation capabilities as well as successful track record in the industry, it added.

As per the deal, Quintiq will optimise the aluminum producer’s internal processes and guide its employees on industry best practices and strategies.

Tom Walpole, senior vice president of the aluminium strategic business unit at Ma’aden Aluminium, said: “We selected Quintiq because it’s a leading expert in supply chain planning and optimisation with a proven track record in the aluminium industry.”

It will provide Ma’aden Aluminium with greater visibility over its supply chain, identify and reduce bottlenecks in production, and develop expertise in pull-through production.
