RAK FTZ achieves top health and safety certification

UAE, October 22, 2015

Ras Al Khaimah Free Trade Zone (RAK FTZ), a leading free zone in the UAE, was recently awarded the OHSAS 18001 (Occupational Health and Safety Management System) certification.

The certification was presented by the Swiss Ambassador to the UAE, Maya Tissafi to Sheikh Ahmed bin Saqr Al Qasimi, chairman, RAK FTZ, said a statement from the company.

The OHSAS 18001 is an internationally recognised certification, which guarantees that an organisation encourages proper and effective health and safety management to prevent workplace risks and accidents, it added.

Prior to the acquisition of OHSAS 18001, RAK FTZ successfully passed two ISO Certifications: the ISO 9001 (Quality Management System) and the ISO 14001 (Environmental Management System), it said.

The next step for the free zone is incorporating all of its three acquired certificates. It will form an integrated management system, which combines the ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001 into one system, it added.

The free zone will aim to carry out unified objectives to prevent conflicts in management and operations, said the statement.

Marwan Haddad, quality manager, RAK FTZ, said: “Being certified by the renowned SGS certification body with OHSAS 18001 is yet another milestone for RAK FTZ.”

“Our initiative to undergo an intensive company audit demonstrates the free zone’s determined commitment to occupational health and safety excellence,” he said.

“We value our employees and their dedication to the free zone. This is our key motivation in taking a step forward to providing the best working conditions for RAK FTZ employees,” he added. – TradeArabia News Service
