DUBAI, September 19, 2015

Leading experts from the glass industry discussed the key issues facing the sector besides putting focus on architectural glass development and its performance at a key summit held in Dubai, UAE.

The International Architectural Glass Conference, was jointly hosted by Dubai Investments (DI), a leading investment company listed on Dubai Financial Market, and its glass subsidiary Emirates Glass, one of the largest processors of flat architectural glass in the region, at Dubai Investments headquarters in Dubai Investments Park.

The one-day event, held under the aegis of Glass and Glazing Federation (GGF) Mena, was presented by specialists and experts from leading international glass companies and related industries.

Recognised by governments and organisations internationally, GGF plays a crucial role in setting standards such as building regulations, construction product regulations, European Committee for Standardization (CEN) standards, and associated rules that govern the construction of buildings.

The federation is the voice of the industry and helps influence policies in construction. Emirates Glass is one of the founder members of Mena chapter of the GGF.

The host of international speakers included Emirates Glass National and International Sales Manager Phil Higgins, who shed light on glass fracture through the presence of Nickel Sulfide, while Benoit Georges, the technical manager of Saint-Gobain Middle East, spoke on building energy efficiency.

John Reeves of The Glasshouse spoke on safe and secure glazing, while Andy Dean of WSP Group highlighted fire-resistant glazing and Steve Lipscombe of GGF underlined the acoustic performance.

Rizwanulla Khan, the executive president of Emirates Glass, said the company is committed to offering the industry’s best practices across its product range, and is steadfast on maintaining the best efficiency in its manufacturing, design and performance processes.
