Process engineering in focus at major Bahrain forum
MANAMA, September 10, 2015
Thousands of industry experts are set to come together to facilitate the exchange of practical experiences in all aspects of process engineering in addition to seeking solutions to the various challenges that process engineers face at a major event in Bahrain.
The third Middle East Process Engineering Conference and Exhibition (Mepec) 2015, under the theme 'Delivering Process Efficiency through Innovation and Value Creation,' will tkae place from September 15 to 17 at the Bahrain International Exhibition and Convention Centre.
It will include global experts, industry decision-makers, and senior government executives, who will come together to address topics such as flexible technologies for a competitive advantage, resource sustainability and expanding the value chain.
It is being backed by the American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE).
Audah Al Ahmadi, conference chairman, said: “Mepec has developed continually since its first edition in 2011, and we are confident that this year’s event will be the best yet – in addition to a high level technical program featuring all the key companies and industry experts, we have an outstanding Industry Initiative programme that highlights Mepec’s commitment to investing in the future of process engineering.”
The event will feature a leading line-up of keynote speakers who will add their expertise to the conference programme, including Antonio Pietri, president and chief executive officer; Rajeev Gautam, president and CEO, UOP A Honeywell Company; Dr Alaa Nassif, executive president and CEO, Royal Commission at Yanbu; and June Wispelwey, executive director, AIChE.
The 'Industry Intiatives' programme will include the first AIChE Middle East Regional Chem-E-Car Competion.
Designed to ignite the spirit of innovation in young minds, this activity will challenge undergraduate students to develop and construct a car powered by a chemical or biochemical energy source.
“I am very grateful that AIChE have brought their exciting competition to MEPEC , which is the first time that it will take place in the Middle East region," said Al Ahmadi.
"It will create the spirit of innovation and competition among chemical engineering students in universities in the area. Consequently, it will enrich their thinking process and enhance their capabilities,” he said.
Other programmes will include The Leadership Excellence for Women Awards (Lewa), a celebration of innovation, leadership, achievement and talent as demonstrated by women in the academic and business sectors of the industry; ChemME, a dedicated student programme at Mepec which will allow hundreds of engineering undergraduates to access the conference to learn and network with industry professionals, in addition to taking part in activities designed to foster new ideas about the industry such as the debate competition and the simulation challenge; and Innovation and Commercialization Zone, a platform exclusively devoted to innovations in the process industry.
Industrial and commercial companies, universities, inventors and researchers will present their inventions, the results of their research and new products and processes. - TradeArabia News Service
