Kizad .... readying secondary infrastructure facilities.

HLG wins Abu Dhabi construction contract

ABU DHABI, July 22, 2015

The Habtoor Leighton Group (HLG), one of the leading diversified international contractors in the region, has been awarded a Dh263-million ($72 million) contract by Abu Dhabi Ports for the development of infrastructure at its flagship project, Khalifa Industrial Zone Abu Dhabi (Kizad).

The work includes readying of secondary infrastructure for Area A (Phase 1B) of the project. It entails extensive dewatering, excavation, pipe-laying and road construction works, said a statement from the company.

HLG said it has been involved in the construction of different phases of Khalifa Port and Kizad in the UAE emirate.

The group, operating as Leighton Contracting Abu Dhabi, will be responsible for the construction of the following infrastructure within a 52-sq-km site:
* Road network (dual and single) and associated traffic signals, streetlights and signage;
* Sewerage network and associated pumping stations;
* Storm network and associated pumping stations;
* Potable water network and associated fire hydrants;
* Process water network;
* Telecom network (containment only); and
* Low-voltage and medium-voltage network and associated 11 kV substations.

On the win, chief executive and managing director José A. López-Monís, said: “This new award is a great achievement that proves HLG remains a preferred contractor for clients to whom the group has demonstrated its ability to deliver complex and high quality projects."

The project will commence this month and is scheduled for completion in March 2017.

A major player in the region, HLG operates in the UAE, Oman, Northern Gulf, Qatar and Saudi Arabia. In Qatar, the group operates as Leighton Contracting Qatar.-TradeArabia News Service
