Dewa to deploy Renault electric vehicles

DUBAI, May 25, 2015

Eight Renault ZOE electric vehicles will be deployed by the Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (Dewa) as part of its fleet.

Arabian Automobiles, a flagship company of AW Rostamani Group and the exclusive distributor of Renault in Dubai and Northern Emirates, and Renault Middle East discussed the deployment during the Electric Vehicle Conference held in Dubai, UAE, recently.

The event featured a line-up of speakers including top government officials and key industry leaders from around the region.

The speakers announced the global trends in electric vehicles transportation, the current challenges owners of these cars face and the way forward to successfully introduce electric vehicles in the emirates.

The conference concluded with Arabian Automobiles and Renault Middle East felicitating Dewa for its order of eight Renault ZOE electric vehicles.

Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, managing director and chief executive officer of Dewa, said: “The introduction of electric vehicles to Dewa’s fleet supports complements one of the three initiatives that Dewa is undertaking to achieve the Smart Dubai initiative by the rollout of 100 electric vehicle charging stations by the end of this year.”

Michel Ayat, CEO of Arabian Automobiles, said: “We are fully committed and aligned to the Dubai Smart City Initiative for promoting sustainable transportation and transforming Dubai into one of the smartest cities in the world.  

“We recognise the fact that electric vehicles represent the next phase of automotive technology and with exciting electric vehicles present in our line-up we aim to support Dubai in achieving the highest standards of energy efficiency."

Hakim Boutehra, managing director of Renault Middle East, said: “Globally, Renault has taken a pioneering stance on providing sustainable mobility solutions for everyone.
