Alshaya opens first company-owned distribution centre in Kuwait

Alshaya Group, one of the world's leading brand franchise operators, has announced the opening of its first company-owned distribution centre in Kuwait, located in West Abdullah Mubarak, thus marking an important milestone in the continued development of the Group’s logistics and supply chain capabilities in its home market.

Spanning 51,000 sq m, the facility offers 51,000 pallet locations and approximately 140,000 cu m of storage capacity. It brings together retail, food, shop-fit, eCommerce and last-mile delivery operations in a single location, supporting around 50 brands and 490 stores across Kuwait.

The new Kuwait Distribution Centre has been designed to create a more integrated and efficient logistics operation, with a central location that enables Alshaya to serve its stores across Kuwait more effectively. By bringing key activities together at one site, the facility will help streamline distribution, improve the flow of products to stores and strengthen the operational infrastructure supporting Alshaya’s growing portfolio of international brands.

The opening of the West Abdullah Mubarak facility represents another step in Alshaya’s long-term commitment to Kuwait, enhancing the infrastructure required to support its brands, stores and customers while creating a more consolidated and agile supply chain operation. The opening was attended by John Hadden, Chief Executive Officer of Alshaya Group.

Speaking on the occasion, Tony Arnold, Chief Logistics Officer, said: "The opening of our new Kuwait Distribution Centre is an important milestone for Alshaya and reflects our continued focus on strengthening the infrastructure behind our brands and stores."

"Its more central location allows us to serve our stores more efficiently, improve the movement of products across our network and provide an even more responsive service to our operations. Bringing our key logistics activities together in one purpose-built facility also gives us a strong platform to support our future growth in Kuwait," he stated.

"The distribution centre is supported by a fleet of 110 vehicles, helping connect the facility with Alshaya’s extensive store network and last-mile operations. It is also home to a diverse workforce of 585 colleagues representing more than 15 nationalities, underlining the scale of the operation and the people behind Alshaya’s logistics network in Kuwait," he added.
