Alba wins top award for sustainable practices

MANAMA, April 22, 2015

Aluminium Bahrain (Alba), a leading aluminium smelter in the world, has won the 2015 "The Green Era Award", in recognition of its outstanding environmental achievements and sustainable practices.

The award is granted by the French "Otherways Association" to companies and firms from both public and private sectors who have made sustainability a key driver in their business strategy, said a report in the Gulf Daily News (GDN), our sister publication.

"We are extremely proud to win the Green Era Award, which affirms Alba's commitment to best environmental practices," Alba chief executive Tim Murray said.

"It recognises the company's on-going commitment to make a positive impact on the environment and the society at large," he pointed out.

Murray and senior manager for safety, health and environment Abdulla Yaqoob Senan were presented with the certificate and trophy at a ceremony held in Berlin, Germany, which saw participants from more than 130 countries. - TradeArabia News Service
