Cortec Corporation, a leader in innovative, environmentally responsible VpCI and MCI corrosion control technologies, has unveiled a high-tech corrosion protective packaging solution.

The recyclable and non-toxic VpCI-126 EM UV film combines high strength resins with ultraviolet light stabilisers (UV) and Vapor phase Corrosion Inhibitor (VpCI) Technology, said a statement.

The film construction provides strong multi-metal protection for parts, equipment, and vehicles for up to three years.

It will enable contact, barrier and vapour-phase protection even in very aggressive outdoor conditions. Unlike some preservation films that rely on white pigments to reflect UV light, VpCI-126 EM UV contains unique inhibitors that protect the polymer from UV exposure and prevents degradation, it said.

The economical film also eliminates disposal costs and is ideally suited for transit, staging, and lay-up of critical equipment; including equipment with large void spaces, multiple metals and complex geometries.

It is safe and improved replacement for harmful conventional rust preventatives such as oils and desiccants. The parts protected with VpCI-126 EM UV films are ready to use with no additional cleaning and/or degreasing necessary, saving customers time and money.

Metal parts packaged in the film will receive continuous protection against salt air and humid environments, moisture, aggressive industrial atmospheres and dissimilar metal corrosion.

The VpCIs vaporise and condense on all metal surfaces within the enclosed space. VpCIs diffuse to every area of the part, protecting its exterior, as well as void spaces and recessed areas, said the statement.

The equipment is completely protected from corrosion during storage, lay-up and staging as well as during domestic and overseas shipments, it said.

The metals that can be protected include aluminium, brass, carbon steel, silicon steel, stainless steel, silver and copper, it added. - TradeArabia News Service
