Hamriyah Free Zone seeks to expand plastics sector

SHARJAH, March 29, 2015

Sharjah's Hamriyah Free Zone is seeking more investment in the plastics and packaging and food and sectors within the zone.

A high-level delgation from the zone last week joined more than 60,000 professionals from every spectrum of the plastics industry in Orlando, US, where it participated in the International Plastic Exhibition.

Over 2,000  companies from 100 countries  displayed their full range of end-user markets in the exhibition, held last week.

“Currently the free zone does its marketing internationally in over 40 countries and we are expanding our participation in international exhibitions, conferences and events to illustrate the outstanding features of our zone to the world. The exhibition was a good venue to highlight the facilities of Hamriyah Free Zone", said Saud Al Mazrouei, director of Hamriyah Free Zone Authority (HFZA) and Sharjah Airport Free Zone, who led the HFZA delegation.

“HFZA is expanding and it has become the region's market leader in steel, oil and gas as well as the petrochemical industry. Currently two of the new sectors we are looking at developing at Hamriyah Free Zone are food (F&B) and plastic and packaging,” he said on the sidelines of the exhibition.

“Hamriyah Free Zone has over 140 companies that deal with plastic products and over 15 companies have a large-scale set-up,” he continued.

“We are looking at expanding the sector, whether it's operations, services, industry or trade. We complement that sector and we plan on developing it within the free zone. The free zone's role is to provide a one-platform environment for companies to sustain their growth, develop their business and reach new heights,” he elaborated.

“In Florida, we interacted with international exhibitors from 37 countries including China , Canada, Italy, Taiwan, Germany, India, Turkey, Switzerland, France, South Korea”, said Ali Al Jarwan, deputy commercial director of HFZA.

The event,  world’s leading plastics trade show and conference, brought the industry together with a one million-square-foot exhibit hall filled with full-scale, operating machinery and equipment, a multi-pronged conference program and much more.

Hamriyah Free Zone has  over 6,100 enterprises from across 157 nations, attracting foreign investment from more than 500 industry verticals in the key sectors like oil and gas, petrochemicals, maritime, steel, construction, and food.  - TradeArabia News Service
