Al Ain Dairy launches camel milk powder, ice cream

DUBAI, March 17, 2015

Al Ain Dairy, one of the largest dairy producer in the UAE, has announced the launch of its latest offering the rich and creamy camel milk ice cream and pure camel milk powder to the mass market.

These premium products are officially available in select retail outlets throughout the UAE under the Camelait brand and priced for the discerning consumer, said a statement.

Abdullah Saif Al Darmaki, CEO of Al Ain Dairy, said: “This is a monumental achievement not only in the history of Al Ain Dairy, but the UAE as a whole. When our company was founded over 30 years ago under the directive of HH Sheikh Zayed Al Nayhan, he envisioned something most thought impossible and with this legacy, we continually strive to ensure we are at the forefront in brining innovative products to the market.”

Al Ain Dairy has successfully manoeuvred through uncharted territory with the development of Camelait brand premium camel milk ice cream. Handling the complex proteins of camel milk in the pasteurisation process to produce ice cream was a major challenge that was overcome during the innovation process, it added.

The result is rich, luxurious ice cream available in 6 indulgent flavours – Date, Saffron, Cardamom, Chocolate, Carmel and Lite Raspberry Vanilla. This unique ice cream combines 100 per cent fresh camel milk ice cream with ripples of complimentary sauces and/or nut pieces that appeal to all tastes while also complimenting the traditional tastes of the Arabian region. All flavours are available in 125ml and 1 litre tubs, it further stated.

Another pioneering debut from Al Ain Dairy is Camel Milk Powder, a versatile product made by evaporating 100 per cent natural fresh camel milk to dryness. Fresh pasteurised camel milk is first concentrated in an evaporator to approximately 50 per cent milk solids. The resulting concentrated milk is then sprayed into a drying chamber where the water almost instantly evaporates, leaving fine particles of powdered milk solids. Prior to procuring a spray drying unit, Al Ain Dairy performed trials of camel milk production in Singapore and used spray drying technology from facilities of a world leader in spray dryer manufacturing in Denmark.

Al Ain Dairy is the only company in the UAE to use this method. The raw material is 100 per cent pure fresh camel milk with no added neutralisers, preservatives or other chemicals. Camelait Camel Milk Powder provides consumer convenience with a shelf life of one year making it also a prime product for export to the international market. It is available in 25 g and 400 g pouches and a multi-pack (10x25 g pouches).

With the international exposure the products have already received at SIAL Paris, SIAL Middle East and Gulfoods 2015, export plans for these products are on the horizon as discussions with global distribution partners are underway.

“As the demand for naturally nutritious products continually rises in European and North American markets, we feel the presence for our Camelait products is necessary now more than ever. And with new studies showing promising medical benefits of camel milk, it is our mission to ensure these locally produced products are available to consumers around the world,” Al Darmaki added. – TradeArabia News Service
