ADPC wins top ‘People Development Award’

ABU DHABI, November 20, 2014

Abu Dhabi Ports Company (ADPC) has won the People Development (cargo handling) at the International Bulk Journal (IBJ) Awards in Rotterdam, Netherlands recently.

The award recognised ADPC’s efforts to build the knowledge and skills of its employees and to provide structured meaningful career development, supporting the UAE’s objective of empowering Emirati talent, said a statement.

The IBJ Awards offer global recognition to exceptional companies or organisations across the maritime bulk industry.  

The international People Development award acknowledged ADPC’s efforts to provide the personal and professional development required to fulfill every employees’ career aspirations.

It is done through internationally accredited in-house professional certification courses and focused training to improve employees’ soft skills.

Gary Lemke, executive vice president - Operations, Ports, ADPC, said: “One of the company’s core objectives is the development and training of UAE nationals across a wide range of career areas.  We work hard to build a strong corporate culture, to provide a wide range of development opportunities in every aspect of our business operations and to enhance team work in everything we do.”

The ADPC Training Center in Musaffah was highlighted as a particularly impressive training resource. The centre has been certified by the Lloyd’s Register group as an approved training provider for both internal and external trainees.  

It has been equipped with a state-of-the-art ship manoeuvring simulator, a vessel traffic services (VTS) simulator and a computer laboratory.  The centre offers world class, internationally accredited training courses that are a first for the entire Gulf region.
