DI showcases colour solar panels at WFES
Dubai, January 21, 2014
Dubai Investments (DI) has unveiled new colour solar panels and eco-friendly products at the ongoing World Future Energy Summit in Abu Dhabi.
The panels are being manufactured by its subsidiary Emirates Insolaire, a part of Glass LLC. Emirates Insolaire is a joint venture with Swiss INSO, a Switzerland-based leader in solar technologies and products.
Optimised for both photovoltaic modules and solar thermal collectors, the solar glass, which is feasible in any colour, opens up new aesthetic opportunities to the Building Integrated Photovoltaic [BIPV] and Building Integrated Solar Thermal [BIST] sectors, said a statement.
Each coloured solar PV module produced with Kromatix technology can generate over 130 Watts electric power per sq m on roof installations or over 100 Watts electric power per sq m on façades, it said.
Emirates Glass, another subsidiary of DI, showcased a life-sized ‘Eco-Villa’ featuring eco-friendly projects set up at the Sustainable Living Area at the summit.
Ziad Yazbeck, senior VP - sales and marketing at Glass LLC, said: “The panels manufactured by Emirates Insolaire are set to bring in a new paradigm shift in solar technology, and transform the manner in which we use solar energy at our homes, offices and commercial buildings.”
“Emirates Glass has also spearheaded the cause of sustainability for many years and this year, we have translated this green vision to the Eco-Hotel, apart from the Eco-Villa – laying the foundation for us to make intelligent investments for the future generations,” he said.
The subsidiary is also highlighting the Emicool E-Lite range of products, a high-performance solar control coating, which is applied to clear float glass and offers the designer a choice of aesthetics.
A top company official will also make a presentation on ‘Building Integrated Photovoltaics: How buildings will produce their own energy needs’ at the summit. - TradeArabia News Service
