Good response to DMCA licensing service

Dubai, October 9, 2013

Dubai Maritime City Authority (DMCA) said its marine licensing service has turned out to be a big success with 50 watercrafts getting licensed in the first five days of its launch.

The government authority charged with regulating, co-ordinating and supervising all aspects of the maritime sector in Dubai said the new mechanism has made the licensing process easier, simpler and faster.

The initiative is a huge success because it is designed to facilitate the licensing process for marine craft owners through a single point agency - DMCA - instead of having to visit several authorities.

Executive director Amer Ali said DMCA was keen to offer an integrated platform to provide an easy and fast way of obtaining maritime licensing, which in turn, maintains a high level of customer satisfaction for both individuals and corporate entities.

"We have long been committed to developing initiatives that promote the industry’s competiveness and contribute to creating an integrated and secure maritime environment that is able to attract regional and international investors to position Dubai as a first-class international maritime hub," stated Al Amer.

"We strongly commend the ongoing efforts and support of our strategic partners from the local maritime sector, who have had the utmost impact in building real success stories in implementing the various aspects of Dubai Maritime Sector Strategy," he added.

The new DMCA service covers the issuing of the licences for all types of marine crafts and crew upon verifying their compliance with Dubai’s technical specifications, local maritime safety systems and environment-friendly requirements within a world-class environment that meets international standards.

It further covers the issuing of relevant resolutions and regulations governing nautical activities in territorial waters, including water craft re-fuelling, diving, rescue missions and marine trans-shipment.

Ali Al Daboos, the executive director of operations, said: “The number of licensed marine water crafts reached a total of 50 applications within five days after the launch because of the new mechanism adopted to make the licensing process easier, simpler and faster.”-TradeArabia News Service
