Arabplast displays machinery worth $5bn

Dubai, January 10, 2013

Machinery worth over Dh18 billion ($4.9 billion) brought into Dubai in 180 containers have been displayed at the ongoing Arabplast 2013, the Middle East's premier trade show for rubber, plastics and plastic processing.

The value of machinery displayed this year is 20 percent higher than the 2011 edition.

On its third day (January 9), the show was visited by Dirk Elbers, Lord Mayor, Dusseldorf, who highlighted the importance of exhibitions in increasing ties between German machinery manufactories and Arab petrochemicals and plastics companies.

Elbers was accompanied by Werner M Dornscheidt, president and CEO of Messe Dusseldorf, one of the largest exhibition companies in the world and Satish Khanna, general manager, Al Fajer Information and Services, co-organiser of Arabplast.

“Machineries specialised in injection moulding, blow moulding, wrapping and packaging, pre and post plastic processing techniques as well as machines used in producing raw materials, such as master batches, additives and polymers are featured at Arabplast 2013,” Khanna said.

“Purchasing managers and technical specialists from a wide range of plastics and petrochemical companies have been shopping around over the past three days for best machinery.”

“The machinery display area constituted 40 per cent of the show’s gross area. Companies from Europe (Austria and Germany) and Asia (China, Japan and India) are vying with each other to sell machinery to pan Arab companies,” said Khanna.

“Arabplast is becoming a must-attend show for petrochemical companies and plastic manufactories with several companies launching their latest machinery at the show,” added Khanna.

The show covers a wide spectrum of plastic machinery, plastic/rubber processing technology, pre and post-processing systems, plastic packaging technology, injection moulding, blow moulding, wrapping technology, extrusions, chemicals and additives, semi finished goods, engineering plastics and plastic products.
