Qatar Gulf’s first to preside UNCTAD

Doha, April 22, 2012

Qatar became the first country in the Middle East to preside over the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) since its inception in 1964, after it officially took over presidency for the next few years.

During a high-level meeting at UNCTAD XIII, Dr Hamad bin Abdulaziz Al Kawari, Minister of Culture, Arts and Heritage, was elected president of the conference.

The event which opened yesterday (April 21) will go on till April 26 in Doha. – TradeArabia News Service
