Amman BRT first phase work set to complete

Greater Amman Municipality (Gam) is in the final stretch of completing the first phase of its Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) infrastructure.

Gam Transport and Traffic Management Director  Dr Ayman Al-Smadi said Gam is currently concentrating on finishing the outer curb stone in order to remove the barriers near the construction zone to launch an additional lane in each route as it has pledged at the outset of the project.

It is expected to finish work on the internal and external curb stone for the first section of University of Jordan’s Mosque till the external patrols intersection in Yajuz by the end of the week. Work on the remote section of the University Bridge till the Press tunnel curb stone is likely to be completed by the end of next week.

Dr Smadi clarified that the municipality is putting the final touches on the traffic plan in preparation for the second phase of the project. This phase will include a 1.5 km long section opposite the University of Jordan in addition to constructing a lower section on Queen Rania Street, accommodating three lanes for BRT and three main stations servicing the University of Jordan main gate, Agriculture Faculty entrance and the University Hospital. – TradeArabia News Service
