Telvent wins Saudi traffic contract

Spanish group Telvent said it has won a contract from Saudi Oger, a leading construction and FM service provider in the Kingdom, to implement its traffic management solution on King Abdullah Road in Riyadh.
A real-time IT solutions and information provider, Telvent said it will deploy the firm's SmartMobility Road Suite solution on the Saudi capital’s major 6 km highway which has four tunnels.
The solution will improve traffic flow on the highway, while at the same time reinforcing driver safety, said a Telvent statement.
The project is part of the strategic plan for the city lead by the High Commission for the Development of Arriyadh, which is contributing to a great and successful development of Saudi's capital in all economic, social, architectural and environmental aspects.
Telvent will install its solution Telvent SmartMobility Road Suite, which allows centralization of both tunnel infrastructure and traffic management providing operators with a set of effective tools to facilitate the process, while heightening safety and security at the same time, said a top official.
'The solution will enable traffic operators to control traffic in real time and be prepared to respond quickly and effectively to any emergency situation occurring within the infrastructure,' Ignacio Gonzalez, Telvent chief executive officer.
The systems to be implemented include fire detection control, closed-circuit television surveillance, traffic data collection station, ramp metering, variable message panels, lighting, ventilation and communications network, he added.-TradeArabia News Service
