Agility signs PNG gold mine services deal

Kuwaiti logistics firm Agility has signed a deal worth up to $21 million to provide freight services for a project development by Lihir Gold Limited in Papua New Guinea (PNG).

'(Agility will) provide freight management services for Lihir's Million Ounce Plant Upgrade (MOPU)...the project material logistics, expected to be in excess of 50,000 freight tonnes,' Agility said in a statement on the Kuwaiti bourse website on Wednesday.

The project at the Lihir Gold Mine in Papua New Guinea is expected to conclude within two years, with a cost of $700 million, Agility said.

The firm's stake in the deal is expected to be between $14 million and $21 million, it said. 'Agility's expected stake varies between 2 percent to 3 percent of the total value of the project,' it said. - Reuters
