Thai delegation visits Dubai Metro Project

Dubai, October 21, 2007

Thailand's minister of labour Apai Chandanachulaka headed a Thai delegation on a two-day visit to the Dubai Metro Project (DMP).

The delegation also visited Thai labourers living and working conditions. The delegation included Thai Consul-General in Dubai Pasan Teparak as well as officials from the Thai Labour office in Riyadh.

The minister inspected the facilities, talked to laborers and kitchen staff, and tasted the food that would be normally served to labourers. The Minister gave the thumbs up to the camp.

On the second day, the delegation was briefed about the safety procedures adopted at the project. The minister was particularly impressed with the high standards of safety and food control, said a DMP official.

"We are very pleased with the safety of the Thai workers on the DMP. We hope that Thai workers continue to give their best efforts to the project, just as much as the project is looking after their safety and well-being," said Teparak.

The visit was concluded with a trip to the TBM shaft at Al Rigga Station where the minister talked to the laborers on site.

"We at the Rail Agency ensure that good living conditions are provided to all the laborers working on the DMP. High safety and hygiene standards are imperative to ensure productivity and motivate the laborers as we want them to feel at ease and enjoy their break and free time," said director of Rail Construction Projects, Rail Agency, Adnan Al Hammadi. - TradeArabia News Service
