City Centre Qurum offers health screening for women

MUSCAT, September 26, 2018

City Centre Qurum, Oman, is encouraging women to protect their heart with a free health screening tomorrow (September 27) and on Friday as part of its annual `Feel the Beat' health awareness campaign.

The campaign is done in partnership with the Ministry of Health represented by the Directorate General of Health Services, Muscat and Ash Sharqiyah South Region.

The World Health Organization (WHO) estimates that 54 percent of deaths from noncommunicable diseases in the Eastern Mediterranean Region are due to cardiovascular disease. Deaths attributed to heart diseases (of total deaths) range from 49 percent in Oman to 13 percent in Somalia, said a statement.

Now in its 10th year, the initiative aims to raise awareness about cardiovascular health, with a special focus on women.

The mall will have allocated sections where medical professionals will administer complimentary screenings and conduct for women. At each designated location, visitors will be able to get their blood pressure, blood sugar and Body Mass Index (BMI) checked to determine whether they are at risk of heart diseases and if they require a follow-up consultation for further investigation.

The next screening will be at My City Centre Sur on October 5 and 6, the statement said. - TradeArabia News Service
