Dubai Carbon honours UAE minister for SDGs feat

DUBAI, June 7, 2018

Dubai Carbon Centre of Excellence (DCCE) recently honoured Dr Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi, UAE’s Minister of Climate Change and Environment, with a framed copy of The Sustainabilist magazine to acknowledge his contribution to achieving the UAE’s sustainable development goals (SDGs).

The Sustainabilist is Dubai Carbon’s flagship monthly magazine showcasing best in class sustainability pioneers and leaders within the region to stakeholders, investors, their peers and all interested parties.

The magazine is designed to educate, stimulate and encourage readers to invest in a sustainable future and is the most widely read green economy publication in the region, said a statement from DCCE.

Dr Al Zeyoudi led the development of the National Climate Change Plan of the UAE 2017-2050; he spearheaded the establishment of the Emirates Committee for Sustainable Environment Research; and also facilitated several productive collaborations with the private sector and implemented multiple initiatives to support climate change policies in the UAE. All these achievements were highlighted in The Sustainabilist, it stated.

On the top honour, Dr Al Zeyoudi said: "I deeply appreciate this recognition. Raising awareness on best practices and trends in the field of sustainability is crucial to sustainable development in the UAE."

"Dubai Carbon’s The Sustainabilist plays an instrumental role in achieving this priority. I extend my sincere gratitude to the people behind the magazine for their commitment to consolidating knowledge across the UAE to facilitate the country’s transition to a low-carbon, green economy," he added.

Ivano Iannelli, chief executive officer, DCCE, said: “The UAE has taken a global lead in developing as a sustainable country, and this requires not just technical solutions but a holistic approach.”

“The commitment, passion and vision of Al Zeyoudi have helped increase awareness of the economic and environmental benefits of sustainable practices across the seven emirates,” he said.

Iannelli continued: “Dr Al Zeyoudi is a prime example of a leader who inspires through words as well as actions. He is a role model for all countries striving to develop more sustainably.”

“The official’s commitment to the resolution of global sustainability issues has resulted in identifying innovative, practical solutions for sustainable growth, inspiring members of government and other organisations to follow suit,” he added.-TradeArabia News Service
