DIAC to host novel career event in Dubai

DUBAI, April 9, 2018

Dubai International Academic City (DIAC) has partnered with leading UAE job site Bayt.com to host an innovative hiring event in Dubai, UAE, that overcomes common constraints such as availability or geographic distances, helping hundreds of fresh graduates find a career in leading organisations.

To be held at Dubai Knowledge Park on May 13 and 14, the onsite event aims to expose available vacancies to a larger and more diverse job-seeker audience by supplementing the onsite event with innovative technology that enables graduates from all around the world to participate remotely.

A leading higher education free zone, DIAC, has been heading an initiative to close the employment gap between global companies and recent graduates from top universities.

Since its inception in 2007, DIAC has successfully delivered its annual career fairs and for the first time offers a hybrid career fair, consisting of an onsite, as well as digital event component.

During the event, under graduates from a wide variety of disciplines will be able to meet representatives from more than 60 leading companies.

All participants will be required to register with Talentera’s custom recruitment platform, which will give them additional access to an intuitive job board that enables them to use specific filters to find vacancies that match their skills. The portal enables employers to scan profiles of potential candidates, shortlist them and follow-up directly, it said.

For the first time ever, this onsite event will be optimised with ScanShake’s CV Capture Tool to assist employers in efficiently reaching relevant talent by letting them scan and collect student CVs digitally, bookmark candidates of choice within the app and collaborate with the whole recruitment team over their digital CV database, thereby offering an environmentally-friendly solution by reducing the amount of paper print-outs, said the statement from DIAC.

To bolster participation from both graduates and exhibitors alike, the event will continue to operate online for another three days after May 14.

This digital extension of the career fair will be powered by vFairs and will mimic the physical event with rich features to enhance user experience for both exhibitors and job-seekers, it stated.

To empower exhibitors in effectively showcasing their employer brand and finding relevant talent, the digital event will be equipped with virtual booths, textual/audio/video chat facilities, a searchable CV database and webinars, it added.

Mohammad Abdullah, managing director, DIAC, said: "We have always been committed to support the growth of Dubai’s economy by empowering graduates to enter into sustainable careers and provide organisations with outstanding talent."

“Through our collaboration with Bayt.com, we plan to extend our vision even further by making the event more accessible to remote job-seekers and employers,” he said.

“In today’s world, technology is omnipresent. Offering an event that offers to tap into the local job market both, physically and digitally, is a new and exciting way for us to engage with graduates and our business partners,” he said.

Muhammad Younas, general manager, Talentera, said: “DIAC has always hosted meticulous career fairs in the past. For the first time ever, we’ve partnered with them to host an event that surpasses previous targets of event attendance, number of broadcasted job opportunities and the variety of university graduates reached.”

“We are very excited with the ongoing preparations and we’re certain that this career fair will be a great success,” he added.-TradeArabia News Service
