Sidra names new corporate services head

Sidra Medical and Research Center (Sidra), a major hospital, research and education institution in Qatar, has appointed Abdulrazaq Al Kuwari as the new chief of corporate services.

In his new role, Al Kuwari will be responsible for overseeing a range of corporate service functions at Sidra including corporate communications, governance, legal and ethics and compliance as well as the overall organizational strategy.

A key part of his remit will be to ensure that all of the organizational policies, procedures and outcomes are integrated for Sidra to provide the highest quality and safety of patient care, physician relations and employee satisfaction, said a statement.

Al Kuwari also has oversight of business development at Sidra where he leads efforts to enhance and diversify revenue.

This includes the management of the organization’s commercialization programs, and technology transfer services – which handles patent applications and innovation start-up projects to come out of Sidra and have the potential to be commercialized.

Commenting on the appointment, CEO Peter Morris said: "Al Kuwari is a very experienced senior leader at Sidra and has been with us for over ten years. I am confident that his leadership and direction will serve corporate services extremely well and that he will play a very significant part in helping Sidra to deliver world class services that align with Sidra’s strategy and the Qatar National Vision 2030.”

Prior to this, Al Kuwari was the acting chief operating officer and deputy chief operating officer at Sidra.

Al Kuwari has a diverse background in finance, executive management and economics in both the private and government sectors.

On his new role, Al Kuwari said: "It's is an honour for me. I have had the privilege of joining Sidra when it was at the early project stages. To see what we have achieved today and the potential of how Sidra will positively impact patient care for the women and children of Qatar– it truly is an exciting time to be working at Sidra."
