Tasneef to launch new healthcare leadership programme

ABU DHABI, December 5, 2016

Emirates Classification Society (Tasneef) and the International Hospital Federation (IHF) have signed an  agreement to launch the Healthcare Leadership and Management Programme in the Middle East region.

As a first-of-its-kind in the region, the internationally accredited and certified programme will help mid-level and management healthcare professionals develop their skills and encourage them to become proactive contributors to the UAE’s Vision 2021 aiming to enhance the country’s healthcare sector as a whole, said a statement from Tasneef.

The twelve-month programme will be held at Tasneef’s headquarters in Abu Dhabi, UAE, starting from March 12, and will be reoccurring to serve the healthcare professionals in the Middle East, it said.

Designed to enrich them with knowledge and management skills, the new programme aims to help healthcare professionals raise their confidence and thus improve the performance of their organisations by increasing their competence as leaders, it added.

The programme will be accepting 30 mid-level or management candidates from various domains including but not limited to healthcare management, education, finance, logistics, research and development and quality and assurance within one year.

The agreement was signed by Rashed Al Hebsi, CEO of Tasneef and Dr Abdul Salam Al Madani, IHF special advisor for the Middle East, and was attended by Dr Khaled Al Jaberi, director of health regulation division, Health Authority Abu Dhabi (Haad) and Khalfan Al Saadi, general manager at Tasneef Business Assurance.

Al Hebsi said the initiative comes as an extension of Tasneef's agreement with Haad to provide the healthcare sector with an improved standard in the quality management, safety, environment protection.

"This will help increase the competitiveness of our local healthcare providers to the international level," he added.

Al Saadi added: “We want to inspire tomorrow’s leaders achieve excellence in their field. Our goals for this programme are to not only provide the participants with the core tools they need for leadership roles but to also allow them to understand how their individual personalities shape their roles as managers, learn how to respond to complex and multifactor challenges, nourish their curiosity, and encourage creative thinking.”

“Everything they can achieve through this course will ultimately help the UAE’s health sector gain recognition for its excellence and optimal performance,” he stated.

Al Madani said: “The learning programme is an outstanding opportunity for all healthcare professionals to acquire basic and advanced competencies for the effective operation of any health facility.”

Upon completion, participants' skills will be converted from medical capabilities of taking care of patients to become a healthcare leader, said a statement.
 
They will be certified as ‘healthcare leaders’ by the IHF, a non-governmental organisations (NGO) based in Geneva, Switzerland. In addition, the top three papers will be selected for special recognition and potential participation at the international World Hospital Congress. – TradeArabia News Service
