DUBAI, UAE , June 1, 2016

UAE-based Thumbay Labs, a network of private diagnostic labs owned by the Thumbay Group, has opened its first facility in India, at Hyderabad. The new facility is housed within Thumbay Hospital New Life, and offers a range of advanced tests.

Thumbay Moideen, founder president of Thumbay Group, commented: “In line with our strategic plans, we have launched the first outlet of Thumbay Labs at our Thumbay Hospital premises in Hyderabad. It is the first of its kind in the city to offer the complete range of diagnostic services. This marks our first step to opening more outlets with comprehensive clinical testing facilities like imaging, cardio/neuro tests, occupational health related tests, allergy and intolerance testing and a wide array of preventive health panels.”

“Thumbay Labs also undertakes hospital lab management and has entered into acquisitions/mergers in a big way, with plans to further expand its presence,” he added.

Thumbay Labs operates its apex laboratory, Center for Advanced Biomedical Research and Innovation (CABRI), a state-of-the-art facility established at the Gulf Medical University, Ajman (UAE), for research and diagnostics. Its comprehensive and modern facilities offer unique advantages including complete end-to-end automation, online report availability, automated email report dispatch, research and referral facilities and QMS expertise, the company said.

With its chain of three College of American Pathologists (CAP) accredited Labs in the UAE, Thumbay Labs has become one of the largest chains of diagnostic labs in the private sector in UAE as well as the fifth largest standalone lab.

The company is currently launching several initiatives to widen its test portfolio and to increase revenue; it is eying major hospitals to expand its clientele and plans to further expand to new location in the UAE as well as in several other countries. A key strategy is to focus on “specialized segments” targeting key specialties like diabetes, genetics, women and child health, the company added.

Dr PK Menon, director of Thumbay Labs, said that the brand was poised to be an important player in the diagnostics industry of UAE, India and the Mena region. “We are undertaking our next phase of expansion by introducing new technologies like MALDI-TOF, ICPMS, FTIR which will position us as the best-equipped lab in these regions. We are looking for collaboration so as to enhance lab quality and productivity of client laboratories. We plan to introduce Diplomate Programs for post graduate training in Pathology. We also are keen to enhance innovation in medical research,” he added. –TradeArabia News Service
